Why the Rainbow image?

The image used for this group is a 3D saddle (pringle patato chip). XYZ surface coordinates are mapped to RGB pixel colors. The images actual XY pixel locations map to the UV parameter locations of the surface.

This is one method for bringing 3D data into a virtual world.

A new internet TV program launches on February 1st that delves into how people spend their lives online. Life On Line, as the name suggests is about how people are increasingly spending more of their lifetime using the internet .

The TV show is the brain-child of Australian journalist and communications consultant Steve Cropper, who in 2008 was 'Angelico Babii', host of the LATE SHOW on Metaverse-TV (www.metaverse-tv.com) and the creator of My-Metaverse (www.my-metaverse.com) a social network for people involved in the new media arts on the web.

Please visit our viewers' group website at www.life-on-line.ning.com for details and I invite you to join and be part of this new internet TV show.

Spread the word :) Enjoy!

I own it. It takes some getting used to, but does a nice job. I export to VRML and it saves the textures and everything to the same folder (Convenient:-). Works well for organic shapes and the price is right.

Rainbow image? Looks like a tangent space normal map to me ;)

Is anyone familiar with this application: Archipelis Designer? From the Web site this appears to be a wonderfully easy way to create 3-D content. There is even a plug-in to transfer this 3-D content to Second Life. Before buying it, I was hoping to hear from someone who has tried it other than just with the demo.
