Trade Show News and Info

The Association Trade Show scheduled for May has been rescheduled to allow more input, planning and collaboration within the industry. All those who preregistered have been notified of this important development. The new goal is to have it later in 2010. It's better for the industry it regroup and take the time to do the job right, rather than rush something through.

Solipsis is one of my favorite approaches to a Metaverse system. There is a serious amount of latent power in that Open Source Platform.

Virtual worlds have a variety of capital sources to leverage. Content is one, but Community is another. How can virtual worlds best leverage the community as a core capital? Which makes more sense as the core capital? Products or People?

Any One Need a Sponsor?

What would happen if your Virtual World received a grant from a major sponsor like say IBM, or Cisco, HP, Universal Studios, AMD, Intel, Microsoft, Disney the Defense Department etc? What would you do with the money? What would Happen if the Virtual Worlds hosted their own Virtual Trade Show and invited the Big players to help foot the bill as they compete for the attention of 12 million attendees? Would it make a difference to your bottom line?
Below is what a university did with their grant. Y… Continue

What Will the Future Be Like if the Virtual Worlds Remain Scattered?

The question will simply not go away. Web3D is happening now. As we immerse ourselves in our various virtual spaces each day whether it be for work, collaboration, conferencing, social networking, medical research, marketing, running a business, shopping for a car, etc...- Have we considered the cost to ourselves and others who have not yet experienced the benefits of the Virtual experience?

I don't like to sound like a killjoy but unless the Virtual Worlds take their rightful place among the o… Continue

The Capital of Virtual Worlds

I often ask myself where is the center? I appears to me that the Virtual Worlds are scattered. It also appears that the worlds have put aside, for now, a fundamental principal. The power of Unity. Nowhere can the center be found. Each Virtual World claims to be the answer to the social and entertainment needs of the "Greater Society". Each have made progress toward their individual objectives. Some have enjoyed impressive success while others have failed.

Virtual Worlds, the technology that mak… Continue
