Hi folks!

Recently my good friends Molly and Nic wanted to have a party for Molly's Rez Day in Second Life, so I pitched in and offered to help Nic plan the festivities.

First thing I needed to do was find a suitable place to hold the party...NO homestead properties can be used as they only will be allowed to have about 20 avatars there.

Estate/Full Region areas will hold up to a hundred or more avatars easily and will work just fine if you expect a good turnout at your party.

You may also need some "dance balls" where the avatars can click and various dances are animated into use.

Good idea to have both singles and couples dance balls. You can buy these dance balls or rent them or even borrow them.

Next is the music!

You may want to shop around for some "live music" entertainment or pay for a DJ to come over and spin some records for your party. You may run into a pretty good expense if you go the "live music" way, yet will be well worth it as Second Life live music is awesome and makes a party perfect.

Hope you enjoy watching the following video as much I have producing the video and planning the party.

It was a success, we all had tons of fun that night! (The famous Ande Fogarty performing live music is SL)

When you plan a party, don't forget plenty of notice and reminders to the attendees. Put the event on the SL event calendar (yes people actually use it!) and send notices or nice invitations in advance and then reminder the day before and an hour or so before.

Also when you create the LM change the name of the LM to something like "Molly's Party"@Pura Vida Disco. That way when it is in their inventory they will know what it is. You could even put the time and date in the name if you wanted.

Lastly I would add that at the party have or be a great host. Keeping things lively. Some DJs are really good at that. Some hosts bring a trivia game which is fun too. :)
