Phoenix Flaming!

Kayaker Magic ...has such a genius mind. This is one coder that keeps me astounded, and well...sometimes as a test dummy lets just say he puts me through it lol

This tree slowly grows from a sapling to a fir tree. The tree pauses as an adult for about 2 minutes then "dies", catches on fire and burns the branches to a crisp. But then a Phoenix tree regrows from a seedling again. The cycle repeats endlessly. If you plant a forest of them, they all grow and regrow at different times. Each tree starts with a random orientation and grows to a random height. (This prevents them from looking so much like clones of each other). When you first rez a Phoenix tree, it starts as a sapling, a half grown tree. Each sapling starts at a random age so even the first generation will grow old and die at different times. When they die they start over as the smallest possible seedling and grow from there.The result is a dynamic and ever changing forest!

Click on the trunk of the tree to bring up a dialog. This allows you to set the maximum height, the percentage of trunk covered by leaves, how long the tree lives before burning or even it it burns at all before respawning.
