Virtual Highway Upgrades Opensim to 0.7.4

VIRTUAL HIGHWAY, Aug 11, 2012 - The Virtual Highway Grid has just fired up and is back online http://virtualhighway.us/

The first thing you notice when logging into the Virtual Highway website is that it has all been updated. Webby Merlin worked on making the website not only concise but user friendly. She added features such as a new events calendar.  Soon the events in this calendar will be linked to the events search on the viewers.

When I asked Webby what her thoughts were, here is what she had to say, "This latest upgrade to OpenSim 0.7.4 puts Virtual Highway on the map (so to speak) - with new modules added such as a more stable and accurate groups processor, profiles manager, and best of all... SEARCH. Now creators can post picks and classifieds that can be found in search, so we hope to see a lot more active merchants flock here to sell their wares. Commercial mainland sims available in the heart of the grid! The time is now to stake your claim on the Virtual Highway!"

NEW: Gold and Platinum level residents

Those who acquire a full region are granted Gold, and those who acquire 5 or more regions are granted Platinum level status.

Gold and Platinum level residents can post announcements to the new website's Events Calendar including images for the activities on their region(s). Login to the website and see the LAND options for pricing on Full Regions, Homesteads and Water sims. You can now

select from 12 beautiful terrain files to get you started on your own private island.

Gold and Platinum level residents also receive concierge assistance should they need to speak one on one with the staff.   

NEW: Lightshare for Windlight Region Defaults for Skies and Water

Region owners and estate managers can also set the Windlight region defaults, making beautiful skies and water

settings that fit the mood of the landscape, as Virtual Highway is "Lightshare enabled." You must have a Lightshare-compatible

viewer to see the skies, currently the VH viewer, Imprudence and Singularity can all see these preset skies. The lightshare feature is only available to OpenSim grids using version 0.7 and later, so many of the OpenSim "forks", as well as Second Life, do not have this exciting capability.

NEW: Full avatar on registration

Select from 5 female or 3 male avatars that come complete on first rez, including an AO, shape, skin, clothing, hair and shoes.

Tired of going to a new grid and rezzing in with purple shirt and orange pants? Then this is your grid... you look good from the very first rez! All items are copiable and modifiable so you can create your unique avatar right away. A box containing all the avatar items is attached to the upper left of the hud on first login so you can't lose it! Just detach.. rez inworld, and copy the contents to your inventory for safekeeping.

Andrew Hellershanks, worked tirelessly on all the updated modules for the grid. Groups, Profiles, Permissions, Classifieds, Search, along with revamping the inworld money system to work with 0.7.4. He, along with Webby Merlin, Logger Sewell, and Tiffany Magic tested to ensure all are stable.  With the upgrade, Virtual Highway is fully mesh enabled if you are using a mesh enabled viewer.  Land can also be acquired and subdivided into parcels that you can rent out to other residents.

When you visit Virtual Highway now, you will not only see dedication at every turn of the Highway, you will see a grid that is ready to take you on the trip of your dreams.
