Sr Training Consultant/Shire Pharmaceuticals
Over 15 years as an Instructional Designer with a passion for e-learning. I've worked in other roles (WBT graphics design, WBT project management, publications, internet writing (pre-blog era) but enjoy this one as it is the most creative and far-reaching.
Second Life puts a whole new light on learning spotlighting the learner's experience on many other levels: freedom to choose (self-directed to the max), intellectual AND emotional involvement, relationship building as a takeaway, and so many other benefits.

Great suggestion! For now here is a link to a slideshow with some basic descriptions and I will add our other 2 slideshows to my page right away until I get description in the one for AVW, or I may replace it with Flickr. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks Stephanie... looking forward to hearing your feedback on Exitreality.
Let me know if you are going to do any custom development for the platform... we have a growing knowledge base that I can give you access to if this is the case.
Hi Stephanie, Yep I saw you on the other side of the room. I noticed that you didn't make it to the reactor. Sorry that your pc crashed. I thought maybe you got lost on the flight to the reactor. That happens to me all the time on these tours. That's why I was late to the testing room where you saw me. I thought the tour was another great use of SL. In fact, I sent an email to my team and said that I had been in the core of a reactor and asked how it was possible that I'm still here to talk about it. I got a few answers saying that I must have done it online or virtually, only one person suggested SL. I used it as an opportunity to encourage my designers to explore technologies like this so that they can start thinking how to apply them to learning in our setting. Who knows, some may begin showing up at Anders' Thursday meetings. Cheers, Steve
Hi Steph! The avi was actually pretty simple. I used a tool called Poser that were were evaluating at work for e-learning development. It allows you to go into a face room and map your face to the model, however I found that it didn't work very well in the version I was using. So instead I took a crack at sculpting the facial features using the morph tools that come with the UI.
